The short version: we only collect what you type into our waitlist, we use it to tell you about Shire Japan, and we never sell it. Last updated November 2026.
Who we are
Shire Japan is a long-stay rental studio in Hakata, Fukuoka. If you have any questions about your information, email hello@shirejapan.com.
What we collect
When you join the waitlist, we collect what you choose to enter:
- Your name and email address
- Your ideal move-in window, length of stay and who's staying
- Where you're based and how you heard about us
- Anything you write in the notes box
- Whether you'd like email updates
We don't ask for payment details, ID or your address through this website.
How we use it
- To contact you when dates open, and about your interest in staying
- To send you occasional updates about Shire Japan, only if you ticked the box
- To understand roughly where interest is coming from and plan our launch
We don't sell or rent your information, and we don't use it for advertising.
Where it's stored
Waitlist signups are stored by Netlify, which hosts this website, and copies are emailed to our business inbox, run on Google Workspace. Both may process data outside Japan, including in the United States.
Other services the site uses
Some features load content from other companies. When they do, your browser connects to them directly and they may see basic technical information such as your IP address:
- Google Fonts for the site's typefaces
- MET Norway for the live Hakata weather
- Spotify, only if you open the playlist player in the footer
- Google Maps, only if you click a map link
We don't use advertising trackers or analytics cookies.
Your browser
To show your personalized train ticket after you join the waitlist, the site briefly saves the details you entered in your own browser. It stays on your device and is cleared when you close the tab.
How long we keep it
We keep your waitlist details until you ask us to delete them, or until they're no longer useful for planning stays.
Your choices
You can ask to see, correct or delete your information at any time by emailing hello@shirejapan.com. Every update email will include a way to unsubscribe.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
